Zurich: where you go to lose your money

May 2

So like I said, we were pretty wiped out after our train ride. We had to get to our hotel though, so we started the walk once we got there. On the way we found a park with nice hammocks in it so we stayed there for a few hours because our check-in wasn't for a while.

I didn't take many pictures of our walk because it was pretty boring and bland.

Once we got to the hotel, we slept. After that we headed out to find some food. Amanda was supposed to be meeting some people that her uncle knows, we thought it was more of a business-type meeting because they were trying to help her get in internship, so Kelsey and I had plans to get Thai food. We walked her to the train station to meet them and when they saw we were also there, they invited us to dinner too!

We were admittedly a little worried because dinner in Zurich can easily cost 30 dollars. We ended up going to a neat Asian restaurant, which was definitely more expensive than we were happy about, but they ended up paying! Overall we had a really great experience.

The couple was super nice, they spoke English really well and told us stories about their lives and where to go the next day. As it turns out, Andrea grew up in the countryside of Switzerland and lead a very humble life. They were just really cool people.

So we finished our fun dinner and they walked us to the nearest metro station because it was POURING and none of us had umbrellas. Once we got there, they even paid for our metro tickets. We didn't expect so much because they were only in their early 30s, it's not like they had tons of life savings or anything to take 3 girls out to dinner in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Once we got back to the hotel, we planned out our day and crashed.

Some weird things about the hotel room: the door to the bathroom didn't have a doorknob, it just kind of rested shut and the shower was not in a separate room, it was just a tinted glass door. Bizarre.
