Luzern in the rain

May 3

Based on the recommendation of Andrea and Matthias we decided to take a day trip to Luzern. The train tickets there and back cost us 50 dollars alone but it was worth it. To save a buck, we decided to go to the supermarket (Migros) in the train station (because apparently train stations in Switzerland are also malls) and for lunch we got bread, cheese and lunchmeat.

This is a view from the train window of the countryside. So pretty!

Luzern was a very pretty town, we did a self-guided walking tour, but it was rainy all day. Unfortunately the clouds and fog blocked our vision of the mountains for most of the day :(

The river that rain through was SO blue I could hardly believe it.

The water was also really high because of all of the rainfall.

If you look beyond the city wall you can see some mountains with snow on them! Sort of.

For dinner we had bread, cheese and meat again but with the addition of some Swiss beer and chocolate. It was pretty freakin yummy!

And then we went to bed. Overall it was a great day! We didn't get to see the really impressive Swiss mountains/glaciers because it was expensive, we didn't have enough time, and the rain/fog would have made it pretty difficult.
